This page will soon contain additional information about other interest and accomplishments of Robert M. Soule, Jr.

Many of you will be surprised to find that he was an avid fan of Theater Pipe Organ music.  He had a vast collection of records and he built his own stereo system in the late 1950s.  He also loved piano music, so much so that in the early 1970's he restored a 1928 Weber Dou-Art Grand Player Piano.

This is no ordinary player as the Dou-Art players have the ability to reproduce the expression in addition to just playing the notes.  It is as close as you can come to having a personal concert performed for you by the likes of George Gershwin  or George M. Cohan.  He enjoyed this fine instrument the rest of his life.

He also chased the last vestiges of steam in the South and captured a considerable amount of steam action on the Gainesville Midland Railroad on 16mm film as well as real to real tape.  Additionally, he managed to film and tape a lot of steam action on the Norfolk & Western Railway as well.

He designed the family home and built it in 1964.  He lived out the rest of his life in the home he built.

More to come!
